Statement of Problem

Our client needed assessment, cleanup (if required), and attainment of a No Further Action (NFA) status within an extremely short timeframe in order to sell the property

Strategy & Solution

Sierra identified and contacted (within hours of notice to proceed) the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VDEQ) regulator who managed this AST site. Sierra then diligently engaged the regulator in a proactive manner and verified the regulatory requirements for the site. Full, timely cooperation of the regulator was gained by discussing the sampling plan and securing verbal approval to proceed. Since the regulator agreed to meet with Sierra, we mobilized from the Atlanta headquarters, met with the VDEQ regulator on-site, completed soil assessment activities, and returned to Georgia with soil samples – all in the same day.

Result

The storage tank was closed and Sierra secured an NFA for the subject property. The sense of urgency Sierra had, coupled with the close work with the VDEQ regulator, resulted in successful closure and was crucial in the timely sale of the property
