Facility Assessment

Many times regulation does not specifically require an issue be considered or it may be out of scope for a routine Phase I ESA. Or, in other cases addressing a particular issue does not neatly fit under a broad based program such as the Clean Water or Air Acts.

There are a variety of facility assessments, supported by sampling or field observation that allow you to remain in compliance. Four of the most common areas of interest today are mold, lead-based paint, asbestos and compliance with the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) audits.

Mold

Mold is one of the most talked about environmental issues today. There are terrible stories of homes that have been all but razed because the occupants could not tolerate the conditions. Mold has also been at the center of much litigation and many insurance claims. Sierra is capable of sampling, assessing and then managing the removal of mold at your facility or providing cost to remedy for sites you propose to purchase.

Lead Paint

Lead-based paint can be found in industrial settings or older residential housing. Today, testing is fairly easy and quick.

Asbestos

Asbestos can be found in many areas of our environment. Although not used any longer, asbestos was once used commonly in the industrial and residential area. Some common areas in which it is found are roofing materials, tile mastic, siding and pipe insulation. Removal is not always necessary, however, making sure that friable pieces cannot float into our air space is necessary.

Americans with Disabilities Act

Many companies with consumer facilities may require upgrading for the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) requirements. It may be as simple as providing hand rails and entry way ramps. Sierra is capable of performing the inspections and making sure that not only are you aware of the compliance requirements but that upgrades, if necessary, are done as cost effectively as possible.
